Three FloydFest Headliners Make ‘Lovers Rock’

Are you a logo designer looking to score a free trip to an amazing music festival this summer? Creative Allies has teamed up with FloydFest to let you design an official logo for FloydFest merch for a chance to win $500 and two tickets to the 11th annual music festival in Floyd, Virginia this July.

The theme of this year’s festival—which features performers like Alison Krauss, Jackson Browne, Michael Franti, Drive-By Truckers and Matisyahu—is “Lovers Rock.” In honor of the theme, we at Creative Allies have chosen three of our favorite love songs and ballads from three of the festival’s headliners to serve as inspiration for your “Lovers Rock” logo designs.

Alison Krauss: “Baby, Now That I’ve Found You”

This 1995 cover of The Foundation’s 1960s original was one of the first big hits Alison Krauss enjoyed. While the original was a pop hit, Krauss’ cover transformed it into a declaration of love by way of bluegrass.

Michael Franti: “Say Hey (I Love You)”

Franti’s 2009 hit “Say Hey (I Love You)” is an exuberant take on loving and being loved. According to Franti, the song was written on the mirror just after showering while staying at actor Woody Harrelson’s house.

Jackson Browne: “Somebody’s Baby”

Somebody’s Baby was written by Browne for the 1982 movie soundtrack of Fast Times at Ridgemont High. It ended up becoming the highest ranking single of his musical career.

Which song speaks to you? Alison Krauss’ story of finding her one and only? Michael Franti’s joyful ode to love and living? Jackson Browne’s take on love at first sight? With so many different interpretations of “Lovers Rock,” your options are endless! Just remember, for this contest the demographic consists mostly of folks that are well-educated, know their music, and have families and careers. Learn more about the Floydfest Logo Design Contest on Creative Allies. One winner will receive $500 and two tickets to the festival.
